deprecate v. depreciate

To deprecate is to disapprove of. In computing, it can mean ‘to mark a feature as obsolete so it may be phased out’. To depreciate is to reduce the value of; it is the opposite of appreciate. Either word can be used as a synonym for ‘belittle’ or ‘disparage’, meaning, ‘to portray as small or unimportant’.
