its v. it's

Its means ‘belonging to it’. Although an apostrophe–s can indicate possession, this is almost never the case with possessive pronouns. Writing ‘it’s leg‘ when referring to a table is as absurd and incorrect as writing ‘hi’s leg’ when referring to a person.

It’s is a contraction of it is or it has.
