melody v. harmony

A melody is a sequence of single tones considered as a musical phrase. In a composition, a melody serves as a repeating, unifying motif. In short, melody is the part of a song that one whistles.

Harmony is the simultaneous use of 2 or more pitches to complement the melody and alter a song’s mood.
