mineral water v. seltzer v. club soda v. soda water v. tonic water

Tonic water fluorescing under ultraviolet light. Mineral water contains dissolved mineral salts and may be effervescent. It is usually obtained from natural springs, and is used therapeutically.

Seltzer is either effervescent mineral water or artificially carbonated water.

Club soda is carbonated water with added mineral salts, such as sodium bicarbonate, sodium citrate, sodium chloride, potassium bicarbonate, or disodium phosphate.

Soda water is either carbonated water or club soda.

Tonic water is a bitter lemon or lime flavored soft drink made from carbonated water, a sweetener, and quinine. Now used primarily as a mixer, tonic water originally contained a larger amount of quinine, and was used to prevent malaria.
