sickle v. scythe
Thursday, November 12, 2009 Sickles and scythes are both hand tools for reaping grains. A sickle has a semicircular blade and a short handle. A sickle is held in one hand and the user assumes a bent posture to cut crops close to the ground. Scythes can be used standing upright, owing to their longer, usually two-handled shafts and longer blades.
