sunroof v. moonroof
Saturday, November 7, 2009 A sunroof is any opening in a vehicle roof that either tilts or slides open to allow in sunlight and fresh air. Historically, sunroofs were opaque (usually contructed from the same material as the surrounding, fixed roof). In 1973, Ford’s John Atkinson introduced the term ‘moonroof’ to describe a sunroof with a tinted glass panel. Since virtually all modern sunroofs are transparent, the terms are basically synonymous.
